Specialist Endodontist | Founder of Townsville Endodontics
(Bachelor of Dental Surgery (James Cook University), Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Endodontics) (University of Melbourne), MRACDS (Endodontics)
Dr. Olivia Rae is a trailblazing dental specialist whose rapid rise in the field of endodontics has made a lasting impact on North Queensland’s healthcare landscape. Since graduating from JCU with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2015, Olivia has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to advancing knowledge, improving patient access, and mentoring the next generation of dental professionals.
After working in regional private practice, Olivia identified a critical gap in specialist endodontic care in North Queensland. Determined to bridge this divide, she pursued postgraduate training at the University of Melbourne, where her research on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging in endodontics and root canal morphology led to a novel classification system, published in the Australian Dental Journal. In 2023, she established Townsville Endodontics, significantly reducing specialist wait times and extending services to remote patients who previously had to travel to major cities for care.
Beyond her practice, Olivia is a dedicated educator and advocate. She provides free, high-resolution diagnostic CBCT imaging services to the North Queensland community; a service not previously available to the district and delivers hands-on training for dental professionals across the region. Olivia also mentors JCU dental students through lectures and observation opportunities and enthusiastically supports the JCU Dental Students Association as a platinum sponsor each year. As the only JCU-trained endodontist in practice, she continues to elevate the profession with her innovative leadership, pioneering research and unwavering dedication to her community.
