AALL travel grants
AALL is pleased to announce that ten $1200 travel grants will be offered to support the travel of AALL members to Townsville.
AALL members should check their emails to read about the grant conditions and contact David Rowland (AALL Treasurer) with your queries.
Grants will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis, so get in quick!

* Members of associations whose activities overlap with or are adjacent to AALL are eligible for Adjacent Membership registration. This discounted fee is offered in recognition of our common interests in supporting learners in the Higher Education space. Eligible associations include English Australia, HERDSA, ICALLD, EPHEA , NAEEA, and ASCILITE. Please email if you have any questions.
All conference fees are paid to the Association of Academic Language and Learning (AALL) and do not attract a GST cost.
Shuttle bus registration
If you require transport from the Strand or CBD, you must register for the shuttle bus service. Shuttle bus registration closes November 15th.

Social program registration
In keeping with the theme, Connect, Collaborate, Create, the AALL conference will offer a range of social events to enable you to build connections with your ALL peers. Your early registration will help greatly with planning.
Conference 20th birthday celebration
Celebrate the 20th birthday of AALL’s founding! Relax and catch up with old and new friends at an iconic Townsville venue with views across the Strand to the historical banyan trees, the Coral Sea and Magnetic Island.
When: 4th December 7-10 pm
Where: The Loft Bar - upstairs at the iconic Seaview Hotel
Theme: tropical chic – think breezy, colourful, and beach-party ready!
Tickets: Tickets can be purchased through the registration page. Sales close November 15th. Tickets include entrance to the venue, canapes, birthday cake and a free drink on arrival. View the menu here.

AALL Drumming Circle with the Rhythm Connection
Alex Salvador’s Rhythm Connection is an integral part of the Townsville cultural landscape. Rhythm Connection has run one of the most anticipated community events - the Full Moon Drum Circle – on the Strand every month since 2001.
Connect, collaborate and create as Alex leads us through the fundamentals of African Djembe drumming.

Free – bring water.
Early morning walk and talk: the Strand
Before the heat kicks in, start your day with a walk and a chat with your peers. We will end each walk at a local cafe.
- Thursday 6am – 7am: Walk to Kissing Point - Meet on the Strand outside the Aquarius Hotel – 3 km
- Friday 6am – 7am: Walk to Anzac Park - Meet on the Strand outside the Aquarius Hotel - 3km
Free – wear comfortable shoes and bring water
