Kaila undertook her undergraduate studies at James Cook University, and has remained at that institution for her PhD. Her research is focused on perinatal mental health, with a particular focus on PAHL's Bamboo program (a peer-support program for first-time mothers). In her spare time, Kaila enjoys participating in triathlons and assisting with various PAHL activities.
