Intent

This procedure outlines the process required to apply for early retirement and supports the provisions outlined in the Early Retirement Policy.

Scope

Early retirement is available to all continuing full-time and part-time staff members. There is no age restriction.

Procedure

Staff who are interested in early retirement  are strongly advised to seek professional financial, taxation and superannuation advice.

Eligible staff can discuss their interest with the head of their work unit ie College, Directorate, Office, Centre as appropriate.

Applications for early retirement are to be made using the Early Retirement Application Form and forwarded to the Director, Human Resources.

Applications will be considered and recommended by the Head of Work Unit, endorsed by the relevant Deputy Vice Chancellor, and approved by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Services & Resources.

Where an application is not approved, the decision is final and no appeal will be considered.
