Apply for a grant

Each year the Trust calls for applications for research grants.

There are two types of grants available:

1. Higher Degree Research / honours research grants, valued up to $7,000.

2. Seed-funding grants for academics and research units, valued up to $10,000.

The Trust are particularly interested in research projects with the following output goals: 

  • Prediction: predicting the occurrence of jellyfish in time and space;
  • Detection: detecting and accurately identifying jellyfish and understanding their ecology;
  • Barriers: cost-effective and feasible barriers between people and jellyfish;
  • Diagnosis: rapid diagnosis of a sting, how recent and by what jellyfish;
  • Treatment: effective treatments from first aid to in-the-hospital;
  • Public Health: community approaches to managing risks of human and jellyfish interactions.

The 2026 grant round closes on Monday 30th March 2026.
