Student Hardship Fund

This fund supports students who face unexpected short term financial challenges who need a little extra to keep them on track with their studies.

Your donation to the Hardship Fund will equip student to thrive and help them avoid disruptions to their studies.

We have all faced adversity at some point in our lives and know the value of someone’s generosity making a difference. This Fund allows you to give back and help students complete their studies successfully.

JCU’s Student Hardship Fund was originally established in 2019 to assist students after Townsville’s terrible floods. It also supported students who found themselves out of work and without income during the worst of COVID-19 in Australia.

Today the Fund provides support to students who find themselves needing immediate financial assistance to overcome a specific and verifiable short term challenge. JCU’s Student Equity and Wellbeing team oversees the application and awarding process for this fund.

Donations of any amount go directly to our students and have an immediate impact.

James Cook University is an Australian registered Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), which means donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible.
