JCU Experiential Learning Fund

Placements are where learning comes to life, helping students turn theory into practice and take their first steps towards their future careers. The Experiential Learning Fund enables life-changing hands-on placement opportunities for students.

Grants from the fund provide practical, immediate support to help students get where they need to be and complete the placements that are essential to their degree.

Because placements don’t just shape individual futures. They shape the future of our region.

Students who train in regional and remote communities are far more likely to return to work there. Which means that today’s placement student is tomorrow’s nurse, teacher, social worker, lawyer, pharmacist or allied health professional in northern Australia.

Your support ensures more students can complete their placements, graduate with confidence, and step into the regional workforce where they are needed most.

Even a small donation, coupled with others, will go a long way to supporting JCU students complete their placement.

Hands-on learning is an important part of most JCU degrees, but it can be expensive for students to do.

Oftentimes students need to pay for accommodation away from home for up to 10 weeks, as well as travel and living expenses whilst they forgo paid employment.

JCU students take placements all across Queensland and Australia. From Normanton and Thursday Island to Tasmania and Mt Isa, you’ll find JCU students in health care centres, hospitals, veterinary clinics, allied health practices, businesses, schools and engineering firms.

You can help ease the burden of these important hands-on training activities by contributing to JCU’s Experiential Learning Fund today.

James Cook University is an Australian registered Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), which means donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible.
