Emeritus Professor Peter Leggat's passing is a tremendous loss to our university and the broader academic world. His unwavering commitment to the pursuit of knowledge and the betterment of our community was truly remarkable, with his contributions to James Cook University spanning more than 30 years.
Emeritus Professor Leggat’s pioneering work in the field of tropical medicine left an indelible mark on the world, with his research and leadership significantly enriching our university's reputation.
His generosity, mentorship, and willingness to share his wisdom and insights have benefited countless individuals and we will always remember him for his warmth, kindness, and ability to inspire those around him.
The Emeritus Professor Peter Leggat Memorial Fund has been established to honour our dear friend and colleague. All funds raised will support and inspire generations of students and early career academics pursuing Peter's legacy in travel and tropical medicine.
