Biography

Judge Lynham is a Judge of the Queensland District Court presiding in Townsville. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from James Cook University in 1995. Prior to undertaking his law degree he worked as a storeman (1983-84), an engine cleaner and fireman with Queensland Rail (1985-88) and as an administrative officer with the Queensland Police Service and then the Townsville Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions (1989-1996). During the course of his degree Judge Lynham was part of the first team to represent James Cook University in the Jessup International Moot Competition and was also elected as the president of the James Cook University Law Society.

His Honour was admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland on 30 September 1996. Judge Lynham is also a Legal Officer in the RAAF specialist reserve holding the rank of Wing Commander. He was previously a Judge Advocate and Defence Force Magistrate prior to his appointment to the District Court.

His Honour was also a part time tutor in law at James Cook University (1997-2000). Judge Lynham was appointed a judge of the District Court of Queensland on 24 April 2017. He is the first graduate of James Cook University to have been appointed a judge.
