Our mission

CASE reflects, shapes and interrogates the social, economic and political factors that define northern Australia and the tropical Asia-Pacific – the ‘place’ that defines our teaching, learning, research and service.

Our people

Our programs are delivered by world-class educators and feature personalised, responsive teaching designed to support student success. With smaller class sizes, students benefit from meaningful connections with both peers and educators, fostering an engaging and collaborative learning environment. Focus on indigenous engagement

Indigenous engagement is a core focus at JCU's College of Arts, Society and Education, exemplified by the RATEP program. Designed to increase the number of registered Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander teachers in Queensland, RATEP offers accessible education in students’ own communities. Through a partnership between JCU, TAFE Queensland and the Queensland Department of Education, RATEP provides localised support via centres in school communities, where dedicated teacher coordinators assist students throughout their studies.

Beyond the classroom

Work-integrated learning is a vital component of education at JCU's College of Arts, Society and Education, bridging the gap between theory and practice. By engaging in real-world experiences, students develop practical skills, gain industry insights, and build confidence in their chosen fields. This hands-on approach enhances learning, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to meet professional challenges and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
