QLS Excellence in Law Awards Gala Celebrates Outstanding Achievements at Brisbane City Hall
The prestigious QLS Excellence in Law Awards Gala took centre stage on Saturday 5th August at the historic Brisbane City Hall, honouring exceptional individuals who have made significant contributions to the legal profession. A heartfelt congratulations goes out to all the nominees and winners, with special recognition given to the outstanding representatives from James Cook University and its alumni.
Among the notable achievers were Bianca Stafford, a JCU Law graduate and accomplished solicitor based in Cairns with Maurice Blackburn, who secured the coveted Regional Practitioner of the Year Award. Lorelei Billing, a former JCU Law graduate, current lecturer, and dedicated solicitor in Townsville, received the First Nations Solicitor of the Year Award. The acknowledgment of both Bianca's and Lorelei’s excellence underscores the impact of JCU's legal education on producing high-calibre professionals.
Additionally, Stephanie Luyt, a current JCU student, earned the Runner-Up position for the First Nations Student of the Year Award, highlighting the ongoing commitment of JCU and its students to advancing diversity and excellence in the legal field.
