Transformational Change Hub

Harnessing complex systems modelling and adaptive decision making to produce evidence-based, transformative solutions.

Navigating and shaping futures rests on understanding impacts of transitioning systems and making adaptive decisions. But tools that support adaptive decision making to produce transformative solutions based on predictions of complex sector futures are missing.

JCU’s Transformational Change Hub makes a difference through developing and putting to use tools that produce transformative solutions. The Hub has three main streams of activities:

  1. Fundamental research - the Hub advances and integrates computational systems science and behavioural decision theory
  2. Applied research - the Hub develops novel prediction and adaptive decision-making tools to predict and explore evidence-based scenarios of the future
  3. Advisory services, training & innovation - the Hub works with local, state, national and international partners to leverage its prediction and decision-making tools to create desired futures

This Hub is a pan-university research initiatives that is co-lead by CBLG and CSE.

  • The Hub leverages the variety of JCU capabilities across colleges and institutes that help understand major transitions in regions and sectors within the tropics and beyond, including a range of domain-specific expertise in JCU’s many social science disciplines.
  • The Hub also galvanizes JCU’s capabilities across its colleges (e.g., engineering, operations/production, geology, etc.) to drive efforts in producing transformational change (e.g., Net Zero Transition, Tourism & Hospitality Futures, Health Futures, etc.)
