JCU’s Inter Alia (Cairns Law Students Society) have brought that extra excitement to studying law this semester by hosting a variety of social and professional events.
Inter Alia has been bustling with a dynamic array of social and professional events in this eventful semester.
Inter Alia Bingo Night: A Memorable Evening of Fun and Games
On March 10th, Inter Alia kicked off the semester with their inaugural social event, Bingo Night. The event was a resounding success, with members and attendees enjoying a night of fun and camaraderie. A special thanks goes out to all the members whose support made the evening unforgettable. The event wouldn't have been the same without the generous sponsorship from CBLG, who provided mouth-watering pizza to all the participants.
Inter Alia Justice Jones Cup
On Saturday, April 1st, Inter Alia students showcased their legal prowess and clinched their fourth consecutive victory in the annual Justice Jones Cup. The competition was fierce, with the legal professionals not far behind. The evening also recognised prize winners, including the best-dressed participants who embraced the tropical theme with style. The Honourable Stanley Jones AO QC graced the event with his presence, and Inter Alia expresses its heartfelt gratitude for his continued support. Special thanks also go to the Far North Queensland Law Association for sponsoring the event, and to all the students and professionals whose involvement made the night a grand success.
PLT Event with the College of Law’s Jacqui Owen
Practical Legal Training is the ultimate phase to become a practicing lawyer. In this crucial stage, students need practical and flexible expertise, and The College of Law steps in to provide just that. Jacqui Owen from The College of Law hosted an engaging 45-minute live webinar, complete with an extended Q&A session. The webinar shed light on how The College of Law's Practical Legal Training program equips aspiring lawyers with real-world skills, setting them on the path to a successful legal career. The discussion covered topics such as flexible study options, multiple intake dates, guidance from experienced lawyers, access to career coaches, and the opportunity to learn through practical tasks. For those who missed the live event, registering ensures access to the recorded session.
Connect at Crystalbrook Networking Event: A Night of Insight and Interaction
On May 18th, Inter Alia members attended the Connect at Crystalbrook event, organised by the College of Law and the North Queensland Law Society. Inter Alia extends its gratitude to The College of Law Australia and the North Queensland Law Association Inc. for inviting their members. The evening proved to be a highly successful networking event, providing students with the invaluable opportunity to engage with legal professionals and seek their guidance. Furthermore, students had the unique privilege of direct interaction with members of the Bench. With over 120 registered participants, the event delivered diverse insights from various legal fields, not confined to Cairns but spanning across the entire state.
Pictured alongside some of the Inter Alia attendees is The Honorable Roger Marc Derrington, who provided enlightening perspectives on higher learning and "the five-year plan."
As the semester concludes, Inter Alia extends its heartfelt thanks to its dedicated executive and members for their unwavering commitment and hard work. They've truly made this semester one for the books, and we can't wait to see what they have in store for the next!
