The aim of the project is to develop an integrated furrow irrigation control system solution to increase the effectiveness and flexibility of current irrigation practices in the sugar industry. By combining existing technologies goes in novel ways with our industry partner we have been able to develop a new system that maximises water utilisation and minimising run-offs - saving water, electricity and reducing pollution. By using low-energy, long-range communication networks, low-energy sensing devices and cost effective deployment methods our research has helped our industry partner has develop a new product nice for the northern cane industry.
