Sensor Technology

The eResearch Centre has been leading the way in digital innovation in Sensor Technology working with 'Internet of Things' approaches to environmental sensing since 2000. Our approach is to utilise affordable componentry to build lightweight, efficient sensors and relay the data back to digital platforms that can make the data easily available to users that need it in a comprehensible manner.

We have worked with the Townsville City Council in water quality management (SensorQ) and a city wide temperature review, partnered with CSIRO on the Digital Homestead to assist beef producers to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of agricultural operations and are part of a large consortium working on the Smart Herd project to manage feral cattle and buffalo herds for environmental, biosecurity and economic development in remote Northern Australia.
