James Cook University acknowledges that all members of our community are incredible human beings; people who are inspired to reach their own potential and seek to help others reach theirs. Our Multifaith Service exists to support and nurture all backgrounds of life to grow: whether by connecting with ourselves, with other believers, a divine Other, a specific faith, culture, tradition or their own path.
We foster a community that creates safe places for belonging and encourages ways to share ideas that develop a greater sense of direction. There are facilities, people and activities that happen throughout the year for all to be part of in their life journey. Everyone is welcome.
What is Multifaith Chaplaincy?
Multifaith Chaplaincy offers staff and students space and time to support their spiritual and pastoral needs. It brings a compassionate view to life and all its complexities to find hope, peace and joy. Connect with a Chaplain to talk, reflect, question and seek. Connect with a student group to get involved with some activities. Connect somewhere in the community that you identify with. Chaplaincy helps you connect.
What is Multifaith?
“To be multifaith is to feel an affinity with aspects of more than one religion, philosophy or world view, or to believe that none of them is superior to others. This term should not be confused with interfaith, which concerns the communication between different religions.”

DIALOGUE – A guide for respectful dialogue
As we encounter a range of people in life, here is a helpful way of communicating that will enhance the way we listen and respond. A special thanks goes to The Feast UK for permission to use these guidelines within the CHAT program designed by Scripture Union Australia.
