SIME Project

This is an education initiative in a collaborative partnership with QAIHC and JCU General Practice and Rural Medicine to enhance the training of GP registrars in providing culturally appropriate care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.

The Strategic Initiatives in Medical Education (SIME) project provides information to services and potential registrars on the experience of working in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO).  This project was funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and has been delivered videos from GP registrars, CEOs and Supervisors at Community Controlled Health Services to give potential registrars a better understanding of what working in an ACCHO is like. There are also written resources available upon request for both the ACCHOs and the registrars.
