Sonder is a multilingual safety and wellbeing app which connects students with the Sonder Support Team any time of the day or night.
The Sonder service is included in a JCU student’s Overseas Student Health Cover if they took out their policy with Allianz Care Australia after 1 February 2020.
If your Overseas Student Health Cover does not come with Sonder service, now there is an opportunity to register for free!
The Sonder Team can help with any issues or concerns with wellbeing, safety, medical needs or mental health.

The Sonder Support Team
Sonder's Australian based, 24/7 operations centre is made up of people with specialist skills and mental first-aid training. They offer emotional support and advice in uncertain situations, can review your circumstances and get you the help you need. The in-person support team can provide emotional support, de-escalate risky situations and help you deal with any issue that comes your way.
How to use Sonder
24/7 help
Swipe for help in the app to speak to us via live chat or over the phone with any issue concerning you. We can even send in- person assistance if needed.
Check on me
If you’re meeting someone new or going to an unfamiliar destination makes you feel uncomfortable, our ‘Check on me’ feature will allow us to keep an eye out to make sure you are OK.
Track my journey
We track your progress throughout your journey until you feel safe, secure and no longer need us.
Safety alerts
Our 24/7 Support Centre monitors for both minor and major events which could impact your safety.
You will be provided with further information about the Sonder service, including how to set up an account, as part of the JCU International Student Orientation Program.
