JCU has an academic division which oversees six Colleges, and service divisions for research, education, services and resources, and functions of the Chancellery.

Academy
The Academy is responsible for overall strategy in relation to JCU’s academic program and directs JCU’s six Colleges to deliver the education and research programs of the University.
Colleges
The College is responsible for providing coursework for students to develop knowledge and skills in humanities, creative arts, social sciences, social work, and education.

The College is responsible for providing coursework for students to develop knowledge and skills in law, business, and conflict management, including international business, political science, economics, governance, and management.

The College is responsible for providing coursework for students to develop knowledge and skills in nursing and midwifery, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, speech pathology, and sports and exercise science.
The College is responsible for providing coursework for students to develop knowledge and skills in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy, with practical experience in rural and regional communities.
The College is responsible for providing coursework for students to develop knowledge and skills in biomedicine, human physiology, genomics, health systems and policies, immunology, medical entomology, microbiology, public health, and veterinary science.

The College is responsible for providing coursework for students to develop knowledge and skills in marine biology and aquaculture, zoology and ecology, earth and environmental sciences, planning, IT, physical sciences, and engineering.
Service divisions
The Chancellery is responsible for overall strategy in relation to legal and assurance, media and communications, secretariat and records, finance, and advancement. It also includes offices of the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and President and Chief of Staff.
The Research Division is responsible for overall strategy in relation to research, including managing research policy, building research capability, and working with government, industry, publicly funded research agencies, and other universities.
The Services and Resources Division is responsible for overall strategy in relation to planning and performance, strategic procurement, international student engagement, marketing, human resources, IT services, infrastructure planning, delivery and maintenance, health and safety, campus maintenance, security, and student accommodation.
The Education Division is responsible for overall strategy in relation to the provision of learning and teaching services and resources, library and information services, and student support services.
