Public Events

James Cook University hosts a wide range of public events celebrating academic, cultural, and community engagement.

Free Library Access

Visitors, including the local community, are welcome to access the library facilities and to use information resources within the library buildings located on the Cairns and Townsville campuses.

Sports Facility Access

JCU has numerous sporting fields and facilities that are open to students, staff and the community across our Townsville, Cairns and Singapore campuses.

Many of the facilities are unfenced to allow open access and available at no charge.

Facilities include:

  • Multipurpose courts (basketball, netball, tennis)
  • Beach volleyball courts (Townsville - paid access)
  • Sports fields (ovals for AFL, soccer, rugby, cricket etc) (some paid access)
  • Cricket nets
  • Fitness Centre (Townsville, Cairns, Singapore - paid access)
