JCU Mayo Lecture
The Mayo Lecture is an annual event run by the College of Business, Law and Governance in conjunction with the James Cook University Law Students Society (JCULSS) in honour of Mrs Marylyn Mayo, JCU's foundation law staff member. The JCULSS instituted the Mayo Lecture in 1991 as a tribute to Marylyn's work in maintaining a law presence at JCU and, ultimately, in establishing the full law degree here.
JCU Legal Studies Conference
Each year the JCU College of Business, Law and Governance invites Legal Studies Teachers and Students in Year 11 and 12 from all schools in the Far North Queensland region to attend the 2023 Legal Studies Conference. Each annual conference is centered around a theme and topics are delivered through expert speakers, and interactive sessions.
Heroes in Business
Fuel your passion for a career in business or commerce as you learn from industry experts. From this one-day program year 11 and 12 students will gain unique insights into the professions that funnel into a business and commerce career. Our experienced Academic team will expertly lead you through the process of creating, exploring and pitching a business opportunity, including the marketing and financial implications. JCU Advisors will be on hand to provide information about courses and university life.
Business Insider Networking Event
The College is proud to host the annual JCU Business Insider Networking Event in Townsville, a cornerstone event that connects our undergraduate and postgraduate business and commerce students with respected local industry professionals. The evening features a dynamic panel discussion with some of Townsville's leading innovators and changemakers, focusing on a topic of significant relevance to the region. Following the panel and Q&A session, attendees are encouraged to participate in valuable networking opportunities to foster meaningful connections.
