About the Presenter

Julie Ford has been a tribunal member for 20 years, including serving as President of the Children Services Tribunal before it merged into Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) in 2009. As a Nationally Accredited mediator, she brings essential skills to matters before the Tribunal. Julie spent several years in North Queensland, where she managed an accommodation service for homeless young people and ran a social advocacy service for people with disabilities. Her journey in integrating Law and Social Work began at the Caxton Street Legal Service in Brisbane during the Land Rights marches in 1982. Julie feels privileged to be a decision-maker in the Human Rights jurisdictions of QCAT.
