Law Seminar Series - Maritime & Port Law

Thursday 29 May 2025, 11.00am - 12.00pm
Where: Online & JCU Cairns, Nguma-bada Campus, Smithfield

Join us for a deep dive into the world of maritime law with Dr. Michael Underdown as he recounts the dramatic pursuit of two illegal fishing vessels from Australia's sub-Antarctic waters to the edge of South Africa. This high-stakes chase, known in Law of the Sea terms as "hot pursuit," showcases how international law allows coastal states to enforce their laws far beyond their borders. Don't miss this engaging seminar where law meets real-world action on the high seas - perfect for legal professionals, students and anyone fascinated by the intersection of law and adventure!
