As regulatory demands increase and stakeholders seek greater transparency, company secretaries now play a critical role in ensuring compliance, advising on best practices and supporting the board’s strategic decision-making. View the Presentation Slides HERE Sean Johnson FGIA, LLB, MBA is an accomplished lawyer, governance professional, JCU alumnus, and experienced Company Secretary. Sean has developed a reputation as a forward-thinking strategist in governance, law, risk and corporate advisory. Sean is CEO and Managing Director of Lakefield Drive Pty Ltd, and brings a wealth of experience in regulatory compliance, risk management frameworks, and board performance evaluation. He has worked extensively in the university sector including for JCU, including in the Law School, University of Melbourne. His clients have included many universities Australia and the UK. His governance advisory and company secretarial clients include NQ Primary Health Network, and a self-regulating peak body in the health sector. A Fellow and member of the Queensland State Council of the Governance Institute of Australia, a consulting lawyer with Donnie Harris Law. He has been a law partner with Gadens and in firms in the north. In today’s session, Sean will share insights into the evolving responsibilities of the Company Secretary, offering a nuanced perspective that blends compliance expertise with strategic advisory roles in corporate governance.
