Law Seminar Series - Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
Tuesday 29 July, 11.00am - 12.00pm Join us for an insightful seminar with Dr. Judith Rafferty on Conflict Coaching, exploring how Conflict Coaching helps individuals navigate and resolve conflicts effectively. The process can be used on its own or to enhance mediation by preparing parties and supporting agreement implementation. Conflict Coaching skills are also valuable for Restorative Justice (RJ) convenors, who use them to prepare parties for RJ conferences, and for lawyers, as they help clients clarify their approach to disputes, provide clearer instructions to their lawyers, and prepare for mediation. Whether you're a mediator, legal professional, or support parties in conflict in other capacities, this seminar will provide practical strategies to enhance your practice. Judith Rafferty is a distinguished ‘pracademic’ with 15 years of experience in conflict resolution practice, training, and research in Australia and internationally. She is a nationally accredited mediator and a conflict coach accredited with Conflict Coaching International, with additional training in group facilitation and restorative justice conferencing. As a former Senior Lecturer in Conflict Management and Resolution at JCU, and now as a Senior Trainer at the Conflict Management Academy, Judith has played a key role in developing and delivering advanced conflict training across diverse professional sectors. Judith has made significant contributions to conflict studies and justice through her research, publications, and presentations at international conferences. She holds a PhD, a Master of Conflict and Dispute Resolution, a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, and a Graduate Certificate in Psychology. Her PhD research focused on the justice needs and experiences of victim-survivors of conflict-related sexual violence within Rwanda’s post-genocide gacaca courts.
