Professional experience placement (PEP) is a crucial and formal component of all health science courses. Placement prepares you for registration and/or accreditation as a professional in your field and supports you to be 'work ready' when you leave university.

During your placement you will go out into the workforce to apply and practise the skills and knowledge you've gained at JCU. These workplace-based clinical and practical education experiences might occur in facilities on or away from campus.

Subject Library Guides

Founded in 1991 Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA), formerly known as the Australian Association for Exercise and Sports Science (AAESS), is a professional organisation which is committed to establishing, promoting and defending the career paths of tertiary trained exercise and sports science practitioners.

ESSA resources:

The textbook requirements for each subject are available online prior to the course start date at the Booktopia website (search by institution and subject code).

Students may also find used copies of textbooks via online bookshops such as StudentVIP. It is important that you purchase the correct current edition of the text.

The JCU Library has limited copies of all prescribed textbooks available for 2 day loans.

The Student IT Essentials website provides students with a first point of contact for all IT Services offered by ICT at JCU. This provides consistent and efficient handling of general IT enquiries, service requests and fault reporting and facilitates in the rapid restoration of normal service to the JCU community.

LearnJCU 
LearnJCU is JCU's online teaching and learning environment, built on the Blackboard Learning Management System.  Access the LearnJCU Guides for Students for assistance.

eStudent 
eStudent help is available in the top right hand corner of each eStudent page or from the eStudent Online Help website, including frequently asked questions and eStudent troubleshooting help.

JCU Email 
As part of the admissions process, you are given a Microsoft Office 365 student email account to manage your university email, calendar, contacts and tasks. All official email correspondence from JCU with regards to the management of your academic record will be sent to you at this email address so you should get into the habit of checking it regularly. Refer to M365: Email, OneDrive and Office for guidelines and assistance.
