Important information for domestic and international applicants for the following JCU courses:

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery
  • Bachelor of Health Science (Physician Assistant) (Domestic Only)
  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery
  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science

Application Process

Selection for the above courses is based on a combination of a written application and academic results. Medicine applicants may also be invited to attend an interview.

In addition to applying through QTAC, applicants must submit an application form to the JCU Division of Tropical Health and Medicine by post or in person to the enrolment officer at the Student Centre, Townsville Campus.

Course Requirements

Your course may have specific inherent requirements and/or admission requirements that you must comply with in order to stay enrolled in your course, e.g. immunisation, obtaining a Suitability to Work with Children Card, federal police check. Find your course requirements in the Course and Subject Handbook.

Course Prerequisites

Applicants must meet the course prerequisites prior to submitting their application:

Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science

Successful completion at Year 12 level of all of the following:

  • English
  • Maths B
  • Chemistry

Successful completion at Year 12 level of:

  • English and
  • Maths B

Plus successful completion at Year 12 level of one of the following:

  • Chemistry
  • Biological Science
  • Physics
  • Physical Education or interstate or overseas equivalent
