Application Forms and Information for Domestic Applicants

Before applying for a course, it is important to be familiar with application dates, course requirements and prerequisites.

Application Dates

Applications for domestic students in the 2024 intake for Dentistry, Medicine and Veterinary Science courses have closed.

Information regarding the 2024 intake for domestic students is available for reference only, as the application process for 2025 is subject to change.

Information for domestic students interested in the 2025 intake will be made available from 1 July 2024, ahead of applications opening in August 2024.

Course Prerequisites

Applicants must meet the course prerequisites before an offer is made for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery or the Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours).

Successful completion at Year 12 level or equivalent of all of the following is a requirement for each course:

  • English
  • Mathematical Methods
  • Chemistry

How to apply

JCU has a two-step application process for the following degrees:

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery
  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours)

Applying for Credit
Students who have been offered a place in the JCU Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program and have completed a university degree/s may apply for credit. To find out more, download Applying for Credit Information Sheet.

JCU has a two-step application process for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery.

Before completing the online application , please read the Course and Subject Handbook for this course, together with other course-specific information published by JCU in relation to the application process, which may specify additional criteria to be considered in ranking applicants in order of merit.

If the number of applications exceeds a quota or other limit on the places made available for the course, the information provided by you in this form and any other information obtained by JCU in the application process may be used to rank applicants in order of merit by reference to those additional criteria.

Change for 2024 Medicine application process
Please note the written JCU application for Medicine no longer contains the additional four questions. Applicants for the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery only need to submit their personal information, Education Background for Years 1 – 12 and can choose to also provide letters of support in the application portal. This is a change from previous years.

If you are currently in Year 12, you can have your school complete the Prediction of Academic Achievement Form (PAA Form) to provide a summary of your predicted academic achievement at the end of high school.

This information is used to offer early interviews to potential candidates prior to actual results being released. Second round interviews are also offered in early January if your host school does not provide a PAA Form, or if your predicted results differ from your actual results.

Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours)

Indigenous Pathway

Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants can apply for an alternate entry pathway to Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science.
