The venue for all Cairns ceremonies is the CPAC Theatre, Cairns Performing Arts Centre
Guest Registration
To comply with COVID venue requirements, you must register yourself and your guests via Ticketlink. In the case of any health issues arising (COVID related) the primary ticket holder (graduate) would be contacted. It is then the primary ticket holder’s responsibility to contact their guests to advise them accordingly.
Only valid ticket holders will be able to gain entry to the auditorium.
Graduates must apply for a ticket for themselves and their guests (a maximum of 4) These tickets are required to gain entry into the auditorium. On entry graduates will be directed to the JCU Ceremony Registration Desk to receive their seating card.

COVID - 19 Advice
To ensure the continued well being of all our Graduands and staff, we kindly request that students doff in place of a handshake with our Chancellor.
At the ceremony
When to arrive
It is expected that graduands arrive at least an hour and a half prior to the ceremony commencement time to allow time for parking, gown collection and photography prior to registration.
Dress Code
It is recommend that you wear clothing that is neat, smart and comfortable. You’ll need shoes that are suitable for stairs, carpet and slippery surfaces. Thongs, shorts, t-shirts, jeans and ripped clothing are not considered appropriate.
There are no facilities available to leave any personal items (handbags/mobiles etc) either on your seat or when crossing the stage. All your personal belongings must be left with guests, or you may consider clothing with a pocket under your gown.
Gown Collection
Upon arrival please collect your gown if you haven’t done so prior to the ceremony. If you have a JCU approved gown, staff will be available to assist with gowning you.

Photography
Silver Rose Photography will be providing the photographic services at the graduation including portrait and family photography sessions.

The studio will reopen immediately after the ceremony.
Registration
To be able to register you must be wearing your full academic dress. You will be asked to quote your registration number at the registration desk to receive your graduation card.
You will need your Graduation card to present before you cross the stage, so please keep this card with you at all times.

Late Graduands may not be permitted to enter or participate in the ceremony.
Seating
Graduands will be seated in reserved seating in the order they will walk across the stage. If you have specific seating requirements, please advise exams@jcu.edu.au at your earliest convenience
Guest Registration/Seating
You may invite up to four guests and all guests must be registered to gain entry. Guest registration details will be provided to students when registration is open.
Admission for guests is free and guests may sit in any non-reserved seats in the auditorium.
Graduands are seated in reserved seating separate from guests.
Dress code is smart casual.

Returning your academic dress
All hired items must be returned to the gowning area within 1 hour of the completion of the ceremony.
Important information

Cultural Sashing Ceremony
Aboriginal and Torres Strait graduates who have identified their heritage on Student One will be presented with a JCU Cultural Sash at informal ceremonies prior to each graduation ceremony. An invitation with details will be emailed to recipients prior to the ceremony date.
