How to Graduate Guide
The below video includes all the key information you need to know about your Graduation Ceremony.
Important Information
JCU graduation ceremonies will comply with all Queensland Government COVID requirements which apply on the day of the ceremony. It is recommended that masks are worn indoors if you can't physically distance. Any changes to requirements between now and the ceremony, please check for further updates at the Queensland Government website.
Graduation Tickets
Guest tickets are complimentary and general admission. Graduates will be provided information on guest tickets closer to the ceremony.
Please note, graduates are not required to reserve a seat for themselves.
When to arrive
It is expected that graduates arrive two hours prior to the ceremony commencement time to allow time for parking, gown collection and photography prior to registration.
Parking
Parking around the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre at certain times can be limited so please factor in extra time for parking or arrange to arrive by taxi or other rideshare options.
Dress Code
Graduates
It is recommend that graduates wear clothing that is neat and smart. You’ll need shoes that are suitable for stairs and carpet. Thongs, shorts, t-shirts, jeans and ripped clothing are not considered appropriate.
Guests
Guests are to dress smart casual.
Hire/Purchase your Academic Dress
It is compulsory to wear JCU approved academic dress at ceremonies.
A link will become available to hire a JCU approved gown.
Gown Collection
Upon arrival please collect your gown if you haven’t done so prior to the ceremony. If you have a JCU approved gown staff will be available to assist with dressing you.

Photography
Silver Rose Photography will be providing the photographic services at the graduation including portrait and family photography sessions.

Registration
Before you register on the day, you must be wearing your full academic dress. Quote your registration number at the registration desk to receive your graduation card. Please keep this card with you at all times until you reach the ceremony marshal on stage.

Graduates who register late may not be presented in their correct order on stage. If the ceremony has already commenced it is possible that late graduates will not be able to graduate on the day.
Personal Belongings
There are no facilities available to leave any personal items (handbags/mobiles etc.). All your personal belongings must be left with guests, or you may consider clothing with a pocket under your gown.
Cultural Sashing Ceremony
Aboriginal and Torres Strait graduates who have identified their heritage on Student One will be presented with a JCU Cultural Sash at informal ceremonies prior to each graduation ceremony. An invitation with details will be emailed to recipients prior to the ceremony date.

Live Streaming
The graduation ceremonies will be live streamed via JCU’s YouTube channel.

It is anticipated the ceremony will run for approximately two hours.
