Programs & Activities

Throughout the year, the JCU Innovation team will host and co-host a range of programs and workshops for JCU staff, researchers, students and members of the general public.

Come to the Connectivity Cafe at the Ideas Lab for weekly presentations by students, researchers and startups - every Wednesday from 2 May until 3 December 2025.

Impact10X Simulator: This 3-day program is generally offered twice per year. The program is designed to help you test your startup idea and validate its potential. The 2025 Impact 10X Simulators will be from 25 – 27 June 2025 at JCU's Daintree Rainforest Observatory or online, and from 10 – 12 September 2025 at JCU's Ideas Lab on the JCU Cairns, Nguma-bada campus, Smithfield.  Find out more on our Impaxt10X program page.

PhD@Work program: Build a portfolio of advanced and highly relevant research that delivers meaningful outcomes and impactful solutions to business and industry challenges while developing cutting-edge skills in problem solving, critical thinking, research design, data analysis, and communication (download PDF).

The Ideas Lab also hosts Hackathons, Datathons and Game Jams, which will be announced on this page later in the year.
