The Library offers an Intercampus Service that allows clients (staff, students and community borrowers) to access the full range of books, journals and specialised material housed in each campus library (with some exceptions as listed below).
Books
Items held in either Townsville or Cairns can be sent to the other campus. To request an item currently held on either campus, find the record in One Search and place a request. You will receive an email when the items are available to be collected from the Holds shelf in your nominated Library. Items from Australian campuses cannot be sent to Singapore, nor can items from Singapore be sent to Australia. This service is not available to JCU Brisbane.
Journal Article Requests
Complete the Document Copy Request Form for articles in print journals held on other campuses for Cairns, Townsville and Singapore clients. (Not available to JCU Brisbane)
Book chapters
Chapters in a print book not available at your location will be scanned for Singapore staff and students only. Please complete the Document Copy Request Form.
Cairns and Townsville clients should place a hold request on the item.
Non-borrowable Collection Requests
The following material is available to Cairns and Townsville based clients only and cannot be removed from the Library. They can be requested to be transferred between campuses, but will still need to be accessed within the Library.
Microform
Items held in the North Queensland Collection and the Shaw Collection*
Items held in the Reference collection
Theses not held at the requestor campus
Journals located in Townsville Store for both Cairns and Townsville clients
Non-borrowable Collection requests are made by completing the Document Copy Request Form.
Requests for certain fragile items may be refused. Material from the Rare Book Collection, Library Archives Collection, NQ Photographic Collection, NQ Oral History Collection, and the JCU Art Collection are not available through the intercampus service.
*All requests for material from Special Collections to travel to another campus library must be approved by the Special Collections Librarian.
Copyright restrictions may apply.
