Staff and students from Universities participating in the ULANZ Borrowing Scheme can borrow from JCU Library subject to the below conditions.
Join the Library
A fee of $55 applies and membership is for the current academic year only. Borrowing privileges will expire on 28 February of the following year. Payment by credit/debit card or EFTPOS only.
To join please bring proof of current enrolment and identification to the Library. If you wish, you may print and complete the Library Membership registration form.
How many and for how long?
You may borrow 20 standard loans items for three weeks at any one time. Items will automatically renew unless a hold request is placed by another patron or your account expires.
General information
Items that have a status of "High Use" can only be borrowed by JCU Staff and Students. An item automatically becomes "High Use" when it is heavily requested, and automatically drops out of "High Use" when the number of requests drops. Check the status of the book in our catalogue (One Search) to see if it is currently "High Use".
Materials will be automatically renewed unless requested by another borrower. Once requested, they will need to be returned by the current due date or they will incur a fine. Please keep an eye on your emails and make sure you are aware of when your current due dates are.
Library notices will be sent by email, including courtesy reminders of what items you have checked out, holds available for pick-up, and financial notices. The Library is not responsible for non-receipt of messages. You cannot dispute a penalty because you have not received a notice.
Material not returned or renewed when due will be subject to Library fines and penalties.
All materials must be returned in good condition on or before the due date or time indicated. Replacement charges will apply to lost or damaged materials. The Library does not accept items purchased elsewhere as replacements for lost or damaged materials. The Library does not refund monies paid for lost books later returned (you may retain the item or donate it back to the Library).
Copying and binding services available (prices on request)
All users may have access to electronic resources while in library buildings, except resources which are embargoed or limited to certain users under licence agreements, contractual or legislative requirements.
Requests for books from non-JCU libraries should be directed to the reciprocal borrowers’ home institution
