Collections

James Cook University Library is the custodian of information resources that support learning, teaching and research for students, staff and the wider JCU community.

JCU Library’s information resources include:

  • General Collections: an integrated suite of electronic and physical information resources to support the University’s learning, teaching and research priorities.
  • Special Collections: unique and rare information resources of cultural and historical significance to Australia, relating to life in the Tropics and with a focus on north Queensland.

The Library's physical collections contain books, videos, theses, maps, music and many other items for loan or viewing. The electronic collections contain eJournals, eBooks, databases, digitised theses, newspapers, multimedia and audiovisual resources.

  • One Search: the Library's online catalogue of information resources.
  • Discovery Collections: within our catalogue, we present collections of resources that relate to specific themes.
  • ResearchOnline@JCU: JCU’s institutional repository provides an archive of JCU research publications.
  • Special Collections: information resources of significance to north Queensland.
  • JCU Art Collection: a collection of over 800 paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures located in public spaces across JCU's campuses in Townsville, Cairns, Mount Isa and Mackay.
