General information
- You may borrow 20 standard loans items for three weeks at any one time.
- Items will automatically renew (or can be renewed manually) unless a hold request is placed by another patron or your account expires. Once requested, they must be returned by the due date.
- Items that have a status of "High Use" can only be borrowed by JCU Staff and Students. An item automatically becomes "High Use" when it is heavily requested, and automatically drops out of "High Use" when the number of requests drops. Check the status of the book in our catalogue (One Search) to see if it is currently "High Use".
- Materials will be automatically renewed unless requested by another borrower. Once requested, they will need to be returned by the current due date or they will incur a fine. Please keep an eye on your emails and make sure you are aware of when your current due dates are.
- You can also monitor your due dates and membership status in your My Library account. Go to One Search and log in using your library card barcode and your account password. Check the Loans and Personal Details tabs to see the relevant details.
- Library notices will be sent by email, including courtesy reminders of what items you have checked out, holds available for pick-up, and financial notices. The Library is not responsible for non-receipt of messages. You cannot dispute a penalty because you have not received a notice.
- All materials must be returned in good condition on or before the due date or time indicated. Replacement charges will apply to lost or damaged materials. The Library does not accept items purchased elsewhere as replacements for lost or damaged materials. The Library does not refund monies paid for lost books later returned (you may retain the item or donate it back to the Library).
- Material not returned or renewed when due will be subject to Library fines and penalties.
- Copying, printing, and binding services are available (prices on request).
- Walk-in access to the Internet and open access electronic resources will be provided on dedicated computers (please note that subscription databases are restricted to JCU staff and students and will not be available for walk-in access).
