Alkira Deren

Alkira is a Clinical Research Officer with the Queensland Research Centre for Peripheral Vascular Disease (QRC-PVD), where she has contributed to the design and operations of clinical trials focused on vascular disease. She holds a Bachelor of Exercise Physiology (Clinical) from James Cook University and a Certificate IV in Library and Information Services from Box Hill Institute of TAFE.

Her expertise includes ethics and governance submissions, regulatory documentation, and preparation of study materials for trial sites across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. Beginning with QRC PVD as a site coordinator, Alkira now oversees key aspects of clinical trial conduct, including data monitoring, logistics, site pharmacy setup, and training coordination for investigators and staff. She also delivers telehealth-based exercise interventions, behaviour change counselling, and qualitative interviews, and has contributed to data analysis and clinical trial publications.

Alkira is also a sessional tutor for the degrees of Sport and Exercise Science and Exercise Physiology at JCU.
