Appointment to the Academic Board

The Academic Board has a mix of highly skilled academic and student members aimed at assisting the university in:

  1. monitoring the quality of teaching, research and scholarship in the University and to provide leadership in the development of policies on quality improvement;
  2. providing leadership in the development of policies on student admission, progress and discipline;
  3. have academic governance oversight of all JCU operations, including collaborative arrangements and off-shore operations.

The Board has six Expert Memberships in the areas of Research, Teaching and Learning, Engagement, Indigenous Expertise, Scholarship and Quality. In addition there are Postgraduate and Undergraduate student positions, that provide the Board with a greater understanding of the student perspective when fulfilling its aims.

The appointments are for a term of up to two years. Members are required to contribute to the effective academic governance of JCU in accordance with the Academic Board Charter.
