I am JCU Alumni

You can continue to make good use of your JCU Library after leaving the University to support your career, your professional development, and life-long learning.

JCU alumni are welcome to continue to borrow items from the Cairns and Townsville campus libraries. There is no charge for this membership.

To join please bring photo id and proof of current Australian address to the Library. If you wish, you can print and complete the Library Membership registration form in advance.

You may borrow 20 items (General Collection items only) for three weeks at a time. Items will automatically renew unless a hold request is placed by another patron or your account expires.

N.B.: If an item is requested by another patron or recalled by the library you will receive an email to your registered email address informing you of the current due date. The item must be returned by that due date to avoid accruing fines. Please ensure you give the library an email address you regularly check, and keep up-to-date with any notices we send you. Keep an eye on your membership expiry date to ensure you return your items or renew your membership in time to avoid fines.

  • Items held in High Use collections, such as 3 day, are only available to JCU staff and students for loan.
  • Materials will autorenew, or can be manually renewed, unless requested by another borrower. Once requested, they must be returned by the due date.
  • You are responsible for noting your due date and returning or renewing your items on time. Library notices will be sent by email where available, including courtesy reminders, holds, and financial notices. Please note that these emails are a courtesy to our users, and the Library is not responsible for non-receipt of messages. You cannot dispute a penalty because you have not received a notice.
  • All Library materials must be returned in good condition on or before the due date or time indicated. Replacement charges will apply to lost or damaged materials. The Library does not accept items purchased elsewhere as replacements for lost or damaged materials. the Library does not refund monies for lost items later returned (you may retain the item or donate it back to the Library).
  • Material not returned or renewed when due will be subject to Library fines and penalties.
  • Copying and binding services available (prices on request).
  • Access to material at other Universities and libraries is available through Interlibrary loan (fees apply).
  • Alumni can access library facilities during our opening hours.
