Theses Collection

The Library holds copies of all JCU-awarded PhD, Masters and Professional Doctorate theses, and a select number of Post-Graduate, Coursework and Honours theses from 1962 (where the affiliation is listed as University College of Townsville), until the present year.

The JCU theses collection comprises a combination of print and electronic formats. Print-only theses are digitised and made available online where requests, resourcing, and author permissions allow.

Print theses may not be borrowed but can be viewed in your Library:

• Eddie Koiki Mabo Library, Townsville: located in closed storage, please request from the Information Desk
• Cairns Library: located with the general collection on Level 2
• Not all print theses are held on both campuses, please check One Search for the campus and shelf location
• Print theses can be requested and sent from one JCU campus to another
• Some theses may be subject to special author-enforced access restrictions, which will be noted in the One Search record

All JCU thesis records are discoverable via One Search. Theses available in electronic format can be browsed by discipline via the JCU eTheses Discovery Collection and via the institutional repository,  ResearchOnline@JCU.

It is a requirement that all currently awarded PhD, Professional Doctorate and Masters by Research theses are received by the Library for deposit to ResearchOnline@JCU. Instructions and requirements are given in the HDR Library Thesis Deposit Procedure.

Theses may be available for inter-library loan or for sale.
