North Queensland Ephemera

NQ Ephemera Collection

Printed ephemera such as pamphlets, brochures, newsletters, programs and posters that cover a whole range of people’s and communities’ activities, provide a useful source of information about social, political, religious and economic history. The Library has a small collection of ephemera covering the same region and drawing on the same collection guidelines as the North Queensland Collection.

Items which the James Cook University Library acquires for the ephemera collection include:

  • performing arts programs and promotional material from professional and amateur groups in the region

  • newsletters and invitations to sporting events

  • monographs on environmental issues

  • regional tourist boards’ publications and brochures

  • posters from regional arts activities and events

  • jubilee and official ceremony programs of north Queensland interest relating to towns, organisations, clubs and communities. Material in Special Collections may not be browsed or borrowed

All items in the NQ Ephemera collection are entered in the Library's online catalogue, which can be searched using One Search. Extra subject access is provided by the North Queensland Subject Descriptors.
