About the Presenter

Laura Neil is a Barrister in private practice and a mediator, practicing throughout Queensland, but particularly in Cairns, Townsville and Mackay. She was first called to the Bar in 2013, having previously been a solicitor for approximately 16 years. Laura specialises in personal injuries litigation and as a solicitor was a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist. She practices in workers compensation, motor vehicle accidents, occupiers liability and medical negligence. Laura is a past National President of the Australian Lawyers Alliance, a Queensland Committee member, Chair of the Rural and Regional sub-committee, and member of CLE sub-committee of the Australian Lawyers Alliance. In 2014 was awarded Queensland Regional Woman Lawyer of the Year. She is a review panel member for the workers compensation Statutory Review Scheme and a former sessional member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal. Laura regularly gives of her time to mentor young practitioners, and has presented and organised numerous CLE presentations throughout the State. Her proudest achievement has been raising her two daughters.
