Harmanjeet Singh (India)

1. Why did you choose to study at JCU?

I first learned about JCU from a friend of mine who graduated from the university. The main motivation for me to apply to undertake this program at James Cook University was that it had the course that I wanted to pursue - Master of Social Work (Professional Qualifying). It is also a globally recognised and renowned university with high-quality education and infrastructure.

2. What has been the highlight of your study experience so far?

My experience until now has been terrific, the on-campus workshops and support team are the best. I really enjoyed being on campus and have made new friends. Also, the research field trips in my course have been really amazing. We had the opportunity to go out in the field and conduct research in the oldest tropical rainforest in the world.

3. What are your career goals after you complete your studies?

After completing my Master's degree in social work, I hope to work with the Queensland Government and help the community. I would also like to work with different indigenous communities in Australia and be eligible to work in the healthcare sector, including mental health and various other educational fields. I can't decide right now what my career will look like after finishing this course, however, there is a lot to explore.

4. What advice do you have for prospective students considering JCU?

The advice I would like to give my fellow students is to be open-minded, enjoy their time here and make the most of this exciting opportunity.
