New students Accept and Enrol International enrolment

International student enrolment process

To secure your place at JCU you need to accept your offer (this includes meeting any conditions and appropriate payment) prior to the lapse date.Once you have completed this step, an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for your student visa will be issued (if required).

Studying a full degree

To accept your offer, read and sign each page where indicated ‘Student Signature’; complete the Additional Information Required and the Acceptance and Payment form; make the appropriate advance payment and return the complete offer together with any requested documentation.  You also must make the appropriate payment prior to the lapse date.

Studying only one or two semesters (Study Abroad/Exchange)

To accept your offer, read and sign each page where indicated ‘Student Signature’; complete the Additional Information Required and the Acceptance and Payment form; make the appropriate advance payment and return the complete offer together with any requested documentation.  You also must make the appropriate payment prior to the lapse date.

Your computer account gives you access to a number of JCU’s online facilities, including your email account and internet access. You need to wait until you hear from us before you can complete this step.

  • Get your JCU computer account and email details. You will need your eight digit student ID number, which you can find on your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), under section C. If you do not have a CoE, please contact your Admissions Officer.
  • Change your password immediately after receiving account details.

Once you have set up your computer account, you can access your student email.

Planning your enrolment can be an exciting time – you will be able to explore your options, plan your subjects and get your lecture timetable for the semester.

Studying a full degree

This is the fun part! Find your degree on the Course and Subject Handbook website and choose your subjects. Your planner will show you what subjects you have to enrol in (core subjects) and what choices you have for your optional subjects. Once you have been admitted in your course you will be able to choose your subjects. Before you enrol online remember to check your study timetable to make sure you do not have any lecture clashes.

Studying one or two semesters only

Once you have been admitted in your course you will be able to enrol in your pre-approved subjects. Before you enrol online remember to check your study timetable to make sure you do not have any lecture clashes. You will need approval from your home institution and James Cook University if you want to change a subject. Contact internationaladmissions@jcu.edu.au for details.

Credit for previous study

Full degree students who have studied before may be eligible to apply for credit for previous study (Advanced Standing). Having credit from previous study could reduce how many subjects you need to do to complete your degree at JCU. Submit the Credit for Previous Study form at least two weeks before the semester starts. If you are successful, you will have to wait until your Divisional Enrolment Team contacts you before you can plan or enrol in your subjects. This is because your study plan will be different than everyone else's.

After you have planned your subjects, you are ready to enrol in your subjects.

Please ensure you finalise your subject enrolment prior to the Last Date to Enrol.  Check the Academic Calendars to find the “Last Date to Enrol,” for each study period. After the Last Date to Enrol, you need to complete an online Late Subject Enrolment request form.  The Enrolment team will process the request and seek approval from the Subject Coordinator for late enrolment if you have not already provided evidence of approval.

Please note, as per the Coursework and Enrolment Procedure, students are not approved to enrol more than 5 University working days after the Last Date to Enrol for each study period/trimester.
