From Planning to Archiving and Publication

When your data is ready to archive, you’ll move from planning to implementation by:

  • Creating a Data Record in Research Data JCU
  • Describing the actual files you’re archiving
  • Uploading your data (or linking to a storage location)

If you’ve kept your RDMP up to date and used it to guide your active data management, this process will be much easier!

Once archived, your data can also be published (with a DOI) if appropriate. Publishing enables citation, supports transparency, and helps meet funder or journal requirements — although not all data is suitable for open sharing. You’ll make access and publishing decisions based on ethics, legal obligations, and reuse potential.
