Step 7 - Dispose

Research data is retained in accordance with approved retention requirements.

In some cases, data may be securely destroyed once retention obligations have been met (for example, where ethics approvals or legal agreements require it).

Decisions about retention and disposal are documented in the RDMP and Data Record.

Disposal of research data is governed by the JCU Records Management Policy and requires the Disposal Authority Form to be approved by the:

  • Data Custodian; and
  • Deputy University Secretary
