Active Data

Active or working data refers to research data that is being collected, generated, manipulated or otherwise worked with. It is important to make (and regularly update) multiple backup copies of your data, and preferably store them on compliant data storage facilities. It is also important to maintain version control by having a single, clearly defined master copy of your active research data (particularly where your research project involves multiple collaborators and/or data creators). For ease of updating, it is generally best to store your master copy on a cloud-based platform which offers automatic synchronisation, such as MS OneDrive, or AARNET Cloudstor.
