Before applying for a course, it is important to be familiar with application dates, course requirements and prerequisites.
Application Dates for the 2024 intake
You must submit a written application and apply to study by 31 August 2023. Applications open on 1 March 2023.
Course Requirements
Courses may have specific admission requirements such as immunisation, the requirement to obtain a Suitability to work with Children Card, National Criminal History check and/or other requirements Students must comply with. Find your course requirements in the Course and Subject Handbook.
Course Prerequisites
Applicants must meet the course prerequisites prior to submitting their application for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery or the Bachelor of Veterinary Science.
Successful completion at Year 12 level of all of the following is a requirement for each course:
- English
- Mathematical Methods
- Chemistry
Bachelor of Dental Surgery
Prior to applying for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery, it is important that you make yourself familiar with the course and its requirements.

Before completing the application form, please read the Course and Subject Handbook for this course, together with other course-specific information published by JCU in relation to the application process, which may specify additional criteria to be considered in ranking applicants in order of merit.
If the number of applications exceeds a quota or other limit on the places made available for the course, the information provided by you in this form and any other information obtained by JCU in the application process may be used to rank applicants in order of merit by reference to those additional criteria.
Students who have been offered a place in the JCU Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program and have completed a university degree/s may apply for credit.

If you are currently in Year 12, you can have your school complete the Prediction of Academic Achievement Form to provide a summary of your predicted academic achievement at the end of high school.
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
