Electron Microprobe (EPMA)

General sample requirements

EPMA analysis requires the samples to be mounted (on glass slides or as a resin mount) and polished flat. If the samples are not inherently electrically conductive they require a conductive coat first be applied (typically carbon), AAC staff will undertake this.

A variety of holders are available to accommodate the most typical sample formats.

  • 48mmx28mm (European / Universal format)

  • 46x27mm (American format)

• Resin mounts

  • 25mm diameter

  • 32mm diameter (maximum)
