RATEP Admission

Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the Teacher Coordinator in their location prior to application.

Note that for entry to initial teacher education (ITE) courses, you will need to meet both the academic and non-academic entry requirements.

ATAR eligible students who live in locations where there is a RATEP study centre can apply through QTAC for entry in the four-year (full-time) Bachelor of Education (Primary).

Applicants who wish to study the Bachelor of Education (Primary) via the RATEP mode must identify as being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent in their QTAC application.

TAFE offers the Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education pathway Students who hold a Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education can apply for direct entry into the Bachelor of Education (Primary) using the admissions process found below. They may also gain the equivalent of 24 credit points towards their degree.

Direct Entry to RATEP

  1. Complete the RATEP Direct Entry Form
  2. Attach a colour copy of your Diploma Certificate (and other supporting documentation if necessary – see p.3 of form)
  3. Email to admissions@jcu.edu.au
  4. Monitor email for further instructions regarding QTAC non-academic entry requirements.

Students who hold other qualifications may contact the RATEP Academic Coordinator for personal advice about entry into the program.
