JCU Relocation Scholarship

Domestic students who have been required to relocate in 2023 to undertake internal full time study at James Cook University campus located in North Queensland will be eligible for a relocation scholarship to the maximum amount of $3,000.

This scholarship is subject to the provisions of the James Cook University Coursework Scholarships, Bursaries and Grants Policy

  • I have commenced my studies with JCU in 2023.
  • I am in need of financial support, (i.e. receiving Centrelink payments)
  • I have relocated to undertake full time study at James Cook University (Townsville, Cairns, Mackay or Mt Isa) from a regional or remote location in Australian, to commence study in 2023.
  • I am an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder.
  • I have a current GPA of at least 4.00.
  • I am not in receipt of any other JCU funded scholarship equal to or greater than $2,500 per teaching period.

If you are a successful applicant of this scholarship you will receive up to $3,000 paid in one instalment within three weeks after acceptance of the award.

Applications must be submitted on the official application form no later than the date set by the Selection Committee for the year in which the award is to be made.

Applicants must submit with the official form, where appropriate:

  • Confirmation of your home address prior to relocation for study.
  • Confirmation of your current address.
  • Evidence of income. See Examples of Supporting documentation.
  • Any other supporting documentation that would assist the Selection Committee in assessing the merit of the application.


The applicant authorises the Selection Committee to make such enquires as to the applicant's good character and suitability to receive the scholarship, which includes authorization for the Selection Committee to examine the applicant's academic record, and seek opinions from relevant members of the academic staff of this University or any other academic institution.

Your application is checked for completeness and eligibility, and you will receive an email confirmation it has been received. After the closing date it will be individually assessed and put forward to a selection committee who will rank your application against others who have applied.

Value and Payment of the Scholarship

If you are a successful applicant of this scholarship you will receive up to $3,000 paid in one instalment within three weeks after acceptance of the award.

Administration of the Scholarship

The scholarship shall be administered by Scholarships Office of the University, on behalf of the Selection Committee.

The funds of the scholarship shall be held in an account in the name of the University and shall be administered by the scholarship office.

Appeal Process

A student may request a review of any decision made pursuant to this policy by lodging the request in writing with the Manager, Student Finance & Examinations, within 14 days of the date of notification.
